Jewel Lagoon Water Park is located at Jewel Beach & Golf Resort on the North Coast Highway in Runaway Bay, Jamaica.

This one of a kind pirate theme water park was completed in 2015 and clearly designed with all age groups in mind.

There is something exciting at Jewel Lagoon Water Park for everyone.

The island buccaneer design and the thoughtful layout make this water park extremely appealing.

One thing that really stood out to this germophobe person (ME!) is how this water park is kept extremely clean all throughout the day – a huge plus!

The water park is surrounded with lounge chairs and cabanas (cabanas at an extra cost). I had no problems finding lounge chairs for my family and luckily I did manage to get ones under shade right in front of the family-kids gang slide – the perfect spot for us!

I went on a Sunday and although it was a weekend and I had expected it to be over crowded – it wasn’t.

The size of the crowd was comfortable and we didn’t have to wait long or at all at times to go down the larger slides – which by the way, were really fun!

Adults and older kids can enjoy the 314 foot long anaconda raft slide for single and double tube excitement and another 23 foot cobra high speed slide with both making a splash landing into the relaxing lazy river.

Tip: You cannot wear jewelry or take any personal belongings (cell phone, camera) on the larger water slide so leave valuables at home/room and put the cell phone/camera aside before entering the slide.

The youngsters hang out at Bucaneers Cove which has 2-lane, 25 foot long parent/child slide, rock brothel and water fall cove with an umbrella waterfall.

Younger kids and toddlers can enjoy Pirates Nook and Pirates waterfall which is the interactive family multilevel theme play area and wet deck.

Although my 5 year old enjoyed cruising around on the lazy river, as you can imagine she spent most of her time in the kid section of the water park and let me tell you, she was thoroughly occupied for the entire day!

Jewel water park isn’t huge which I really like – I didn’t have to worry about “losing” my family members. I allowed my daughter to roam around on her own which gave her this nice sense of independence and I was able to keep an eye on her from most areas of the park.

If the park was any larger I wouldn’t have been comfortable doing that. It is a good size park if you have younger kids.

Additionally, there were ample lifeguards on duty so I felt pretty safe allowing her to be off on her own but a safe distance away.

The food is good – pizza, wraps, nachos, hot dogs, etc. I only wish they had a salad option on the menu. I love salads and on this particular day I didn’t feel like eating much meat.

I must say, the guy at the grill area was accommodating. He made a little salad for me with what he had available and I really appreciated that.

No need to bring your own towel to Jewel Lagoon Water Park. Fresh dry towels are kept in a very large bin close to the bathroom area – and another bin beside it for wet/used towels.

I do recommend though that upon arrival each person gets a towel and hang unto it. The staff keeps this place so clean that they often walk around picking up towels they think people have left behind so if you decide to walk away make it evident that someone is still using the towel. Towards the end of the day after they took up our towels I went to get fresh ones but unfortunately they ran out at that time – it was an hour before the park was closing. I asked one of the friendly staff members to try and locate three dry towels and he really did his best and was able to get me two. No complaints here – I really appreciate them keeping the surroundings tidy – you often see staff going around picking up plates, empty cups and garbage that people leave behind.

It is also evident the bathrooms are cleaned often throughout the day. There is one large enclosed shower and another open shower in both the male and female bathrooms. So if you plan to travel here for just the day the bathroom is comfortable and accommodating enough to wash off and change into dry clothes. Don’t wait until closing to do this though – I recommend if you wish to use the shower to get in there at 5pm the latest to beat any kind of rush.

My only disappointment here is that there has to be a minimum of 20 people to pay $50USD per adult, $25USD per child. For a small family like mine $80USD per adult and $50USD per child is a stretch especially because we want to make this a regular outing. That said, the $80USD does grant you access to the entire hotel so you can go visit some of the other restaurants and aren’t restricted to the water park grill. So, in my opinion the cost may seem expensive but it is totally worth it if you spend the entire day. I continue to highly recommend Jewel Water Park for a family fun day and it’s a great option for special events. I can’t say it enough – I really really enjoyed the day I spent there with my family and from what I could see, other families were enjoying themselves too.
